Hi and welcome! 🌿
I’m Joyce, a traveler, tourism professional, and founder of Ethical Trails. With a background in international tourism, I’ve seen firsthand how the industry often prioritizes profit over sustainability. But traveling is a privilege, and with that privilege comes the opportunity to do better.
Here, I share stories, reflections, and resources to help shift how we explore the world: more slowly, more consciously, and with respect for people & planet.

I always wanted to try bikepacking, so I started small—B&Bs, a four-day ride. And I loved it. It felt like a whole new kind of adventure. 🤠
Not just getting from A to B, but everything in between—the detours, the quiet moments, the little wins.
One of the first things I realized? It’s not a race. Slowing down made the trip so much more enjoyable. It’s amazing what you notice when you’re not rushing. 🚴♀️
One thing I’d do differently? Plan better. I missed a stunning viewpoint just 5km off my path. But one thing I got right? Avoiding city centers during traffic. Nothing kills the vibe like fighting for space with impatient cars. 🧭
And then, of course—rest. Your legs do all the work. Give them a break. 🦵
Lastly, if you’re thinking about bikepacking, don’t splurge on gear just yet. Borrow, buy second-hand, and figure out what works for you first. ♻️
At the end of the day, it is all about the experience. You learn, adapt, and—most importantly—enjoy the ride. ✨
