Reismarkt 2026: Flanders’ alternative travel fair

Table of Contents

For those who prefer to pave their own path rather than follow a pre-packaged itinerary, Reismarkt is the place to be. On Sunday, 18 October 2026, Wegwijzer vzw transforms the VIVES campus in Bruges into the ultimate meeting point for travelers who value depth, honesty, and social harmony in their journeys.

Beyond the typical travel fair

Unlike commercial fairs, Reismarkt is built on the principle of “by travelers, for travelers”. Here, 200 volunteer informants offer personal, raw insights into their journeys, helping you navigate regions and cultures with the honesty only first-hand experience can provide.

Whether you are looking into long-distance cycling, volunteering with integrity, or navigating intercultural exchanges, you will find someone who has actually been there. The focus is on sharing expertise that encourages a more mindful approach to exploring our world.

A program centered on knowledge

Throughout the day, a diverse program of workshops and lectures will dive deeper into specific themes. From practical tips on alternative transport to stories about the realities of life on the road, these sessions are designed to challenge your perspective.

A special addition to the 2026 edition is the program hosted at The Crown, dedicated to traveling with non-visible disabilities. This free-to-access segment offers support and inspiration for those who view their disability as a challenge but refuse to let it limit their dreams of exploring near or far.

Gear up and reconnect

Between conversations, you can browse a selection of specialized organizations, outdoor shops, and travel bookstores. It’s a chance to find the right maps and gear that last a lifetime, rather than a single season. If you need a moment to let all the new ideas sink in, the World Café and World Market offer a space to reconnect with fellow travelers over local flavors.
